Fountain Transportation Safety Action Plan

In 2024, Fountain was awarded a Safe Streets for All (SS4A) safety grant to develop its first transportation safety focused action plan. The first-ever City of Fountain Safety Action Plan (SAP) will identify safety concerns, develop a toolkit of solutions, and establish a prioritized program of actions to effectively move the needle toward ZERO fatal and serious injury crashes in our city. The framework to accomplish this goal is through comprehensive safety analysis, focused community engagement, impartially distributed safety actions, and transportation policy reform, resulting in actionable strategies and projects to improve transportation safety for the citizens of Fountain.

To help facilitate community engagement, two Open House meetings were held at the Fountain City Hall. Open House #1 focused on providing an overview of the FHWA SS4A Program and a summary of City of Fountain crash trends for the five-year period from 2019 through 2023. Open House #2 focused on sharing updated crash information as well as crash analysis findings for the most recent five years (2020-2024). The High Injury Network (HIN) and an overview of safety improvement projects and programs was also presented. Stakeholder and public input were also sought regarding community safety priorities using an online Safety Priorities Poll. The results of the Safety Priorities Poll will be used to prioritize identified safety improvement projects and programs for funding and implementation.

If you missed our Open Houses, you could still review the updated Fountain [Five-Year Crash Data Summary] and visit our new [Safety Dashboard] and learn about Fountain crash trends.  You can also review the input we have received this far using links to [Safety Priorities Poll] and [Community Survey Results] summaries (links below). Finally, you can also still provide comments to the project team by using our project website [Comment Form] (below), by using the [Interactive Comment Map] (links below), or by sending an email to the project team at: safestreets@fountaincolorado.org. Finally, please let us know your safety priorities by filling out the Safety Priorities Poll (link below).

Interactive Comment MAP

Tell us about locations that you believe have safety issues that need to be identified and prioritized for corrective actions by the Fountain Safety Action Plan and review locations and issues that others have prioritized. [Click the button link to the left] or the title to this section to connect to our Fountain Safety Action Plan Social Pinpoint Portal. Then scroll to the Interactive Comment Map to enter your comments or review comments submitted by others regarding safety concerns at specific locations throughout the City.

COMMUNITY SURVEY RESULTS

A Community Survey was conducted during Phase 1 of Safety Action Plan stakeholder and public engagement. To access a summary of the results of the Community Survey,
[Click the button link to the left] or title to this section.

SAFETY PRIORITIES POLL

For Phase 2 of the Fountain Safety Action Plan, we requested stakeholder and public input on your priorities for safety improvements. We found that stakeholders and members of the public place highest priority on addressing conditions that contribute to severe injury and fatal crashes, followed by addressing locations and conditions that are perceived as unsafe. There was also significant support for improving safety outcomes for vulnerable users including bicyclists, pedestrians and motorcycle users, and addressing safety improvement in an equitable manner that considers all users.

Results of the Safety Priorities Poll will be used to score and select safety improvement projects and programs for funding and implementation by the City. To access a summary of the safety priorities poll results, [Click the button link to the left] or title to this section.
